While food isn’t the highlight, thematic spaces invest in interactivity and pleasant environments inspired by pop culture icons.
A macaron inspired by Aggretsuko, an anime series shown on Netflix, food reminiscent of dinosaurs and a drink straight out of Harry Potter books and films. These are just some of the dishes on the menus of the themed restaurants in São Paulo, increasingly present on the streets throughout the city. The following is a selection of addresses.
Eat Asia + Hello Kitty
Although located in the neighborhood of Liberdade and its main theme is the Asian character Hello Kitty, the restaurant Eat Asia + Hello Kitty is not only blocked on one side, mixing oriental, Hawaiian and fast food, even with unusual mixes, such as the 90g brioche burger, cheddar, bacon, sunomono and mayonnaise (R $ 43.90) and 150g brioche bun burger, cheddar, shimeji and tarê mayonnaise (R $ 36.90). However, the most “instagrammable” and fun items are the Eat Asia + Hello Kitty coffee items, such as the banoffe cake (R $ 19.90), the donuts (R $ 14.90) and even the brigadeiro with a bow. of the character (R $ 9.90).

The space also offers colorful alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and the traditional Butter Beer (here called Espumosa Beer), which is nothing more than a spiced milkshake (R $ 30).

In an annex of the Shopping Santa Cruz, with the main entrance on Rua Domingos de Morais, is Katon, an anime-themed Japanese restaurant under the responsibility of the Piticas brand. The whole environment is inspired by the famous animated series Aggretsuko, shown on Netflix, but it is not difficult to notice other references and journeys into the world of anime – in particular on the “Instagrammable” wall full of characters from the Funko Pop line.
With a popular karaoke, which requires reservations, the space offers ramen as a flagship (R $ 44.90, regular size), but the highlight is the dessert, especially the chibi cake (R $ 34.90), with filled with 65% cocoa chocolate mousse, and the themed (and tasty) macaron with the face of Aggretsuko’s characters (R $ 14.90).

Jurassic Park
With John Williams music in the background, autographed posters and a giant Tyrannosaurus rex, Jurassic Park Burger offers snacks and side dishes in a setting inspired by the classic dinosaur park movie. In addition to the attractive environment for children and adults, the menu stands out for its variety.
They range from a reinvention of the bolovo (R $ 19), through seasoned fries (R $ 15) and the traditional cheese salad with hamburger, cheese, tomato, lettuce, grilled onion and green mayonnaise (R $ 29). But it’s the dessert that steals the attention: caramel-filled chocolate that, while very sweet, amuses in the shape of a claw (R $ 22) and the choux that, served in a kind of nest, completes the experience (R $ 17) . . After your meal, it’s worth strolling around to take photos with the dinosaurs – which, unfortunately, aren’t interactive – and admire the lifelike figurines.

SteamFactory
Tucked away on a small street in the Ipiranga neighborhood, the SteamFactory burger restaurant has a steampunk-themed vibe. The industrial-looking environment, with iron details and gears, embellishes a menu that makes sense with the proposal, such as the beef burger with smoked pastrami, mozzarella, red onion and mayonnaise on brioche (R $ 29.90 ) and the flagship with beef burger, smoked pork ribs with barbecue, crispy onion, cheddar and Australian bread (R $ 26.90). For those who love potatoes, there is still a portion with smoked pork ribs (R $ 30.90).
