The provision will come into force on October 1st. Even the use of the mask on public transport and indoors will no longer be mandatory.
Chile has announced that from 1 October non-resident foreigners will no longer be randomly selected upon arrival in the country to be tested for Covid-19. Also, unless a new variant of the virus emerges, the mobility pass for indoor entry will be suspended. The use of masks is still recommended, but will no longer be mandatory.

The end of the random tests is an encouragement for those traveling on vacation to Chile. In July VT reported the case of a tourist who was selected on arrival to take the test and received a positive diagnosis. Result: he and his parents were prevented from traveling around the country and spent the seven days of the trip locked in a hotel.
Despite the changes, travelers will still need to demonstrate a full vaccination schedule or submit a negative PCR test result up to 48 hours prior to departure. According to the official website of Chile, it is the country of origin that determines what is considered “complete vaccination”. For Brazilians, this means a single dose of Janssen or two doses of the other vaccines. Since the beginning of September, the Conect SUS application has been accepted as a vaccination certificate and children under 18 are exempt from the requirements.
Until September 30, Brazilians are still subjected to random tests and, if the diagnosis is positive, they will have to comply with a seven-day quarantine.
