The dermatologist explains how to take care of excess oil, which is part of the life of about 70% of the Brazilian population
Along with combination skin, oily skin is predominant in the Brazilian population, as it is estimated that around 70% of the Brazilian population has excessive oiliness, mainly due to the fact that the country can be considered tropical.

Like other skin types, oily skin also requires a specific skincare routine. Dermatologist Juliana Pique, member of the Brazilian Society of Dermatology, of Rio de Janeiro, clarifies the main precautions and gives advice for those suffering from excessive oiliness.
SKIN SANITIZATION
If you have oily skin, know that it is recommended not to wash your face several times a day, as doing so will end up stimulating the production of the sebaceous glands even more.
The ideal is to wash it twice a day, one in the morning and the other in the evening. To clean oily skin daily, we suggest, for example, the use of face gel soaps that contain salicylic acid in their composition.
SUITABLE COSMETICS
When choosing cosmetics to include in your oily skin care routine, always pay attention to whether they are produced with vehicles and active ingredients aimed at controlling oiliness.
Also, check if it says “no oil” on the product packaging. Being a lighter type of product, serum, for example, is very suitable for oily and combination skin.
HYDRATION
It is common to believe that oily skin does not need hydration. However, like other skin types, it must be hydrated to ensure the skin barrier and protect the dermis from external aggressions and dryness.
TRICK
If you use makeup every day, never forget to remove it and do overnight skin care before going to bed, as cosmetic residues clog pores and stimulate oiliness.
HELP FROM A DERMATOLOGIST
It is essential to enlist the help of a dermatologist so that the professional can evaluate the skin and indicate the specific care for each case.
