Two other companies already operate on the Madrid-Barcelona route: Renfe (state-owned) and Ouigo. Three competing companies make some tickets very affordable, even with the euro skyrocketing. Tickets to Ouigo, for example, cost between € 9 and € 20 (R $ 45 and R $ 102), depending on the time and day of the trip. Renfe, operating as Avlo, sells tickets for the same route from € 7 (R $ 35). Therefore, it is impressive that newcomer Iryo has announced that the price of tickets for this route will be in the order of € 18 (R $ 91.50). Until the publication of the article, Iryo’s website had defects that did not allow to consult the real value of the tickets.

While not the cheapest, Iryo’s trains are brand new and cater to business travelers. Each train will have a workspace in the third car, plus Wi-Fi and a dining car. Trains will follow the direct route between Madrid And barcelona in 2h30, and the time goes up to 2h45 when there is a stop Zaragoza.

Iryo also plans to launch other routes from Madrid. trains for Valence are scheduled for December 2022, until seville And Rum raisin in March 2023 and destined for Alicante in June 2023. Avlo and Ouigo already operate trains on these same routes.
