According to the Higher Electoral Court, more than 2.1 million young people between the ages of 16 and 17 will be able to vote in the 2022 elections.

Who can vote?

According to the Constitution, voting in Brazil is mandatory for every citizen, born or naturalized, literate, aged between 18 and 70. Voting is optional for young people aged 16 and 17, for those over 70 and for the illiterate. Young people who turn 16 by the next election date (October 2) will be able to vote.
