From 12 October, restrictions begin to prevent accidents on the runway, which will be subject to works
On Wednesday (5), the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) banned jet aircraft operations at Fernando de Noronha Airport due to runway problems. The restriction will in any case be published in the Official Gazette on Friday (7) and will come into effect from 12 October.

According to the Anac ordinance, the measure aims to avoid accidents as the airport needs work. Until then, jet planes will only visit the island in two exceptional situations: medical emergencies or transportation of valuables.
Currently, Fernando de Noronha receives five flights a day during the week. Among them, four take place aboard Azul jets and one Boeing Gol. On Saturday, Azul operates one of its flights with an ATR aircraft, which is still permitted.
Airline positioning
Azul revealed that he was aware of Anac’s notification and stressed that “he is working on a contingency plan to minimize the impacts caused to customers and residents of the island”. The company also stressed that it still has model aircraft permitted (such as ATR aircraft) and that it will continue to serve flights to Fernando de Noronha.
Until this article was published, Gol had not commented on the company’s flights to the island.
re-emerge
On Thursday (6) the restoration works began at Governador Carlos Wilson airport, in Fernando de Noronha. The first phase is scheduled in 90 days and includes repairs to the runway and take-off. The second phase is expected to last a year and will refurbish the aircraft parking, runways and drainage system, as well as expand runway capacity. The investment will be over R $ 61 million.
