With crepe paper, your yellowish cover takes on new life!

Don’t finish yours transparent yellow cell phone case before seeing this test. According to published video by content creator Cauê Zarzour, it’s possible color your transparent cloak using only water e crepe paper.
The method sounds so interesting but … Works?
Test: how to dye your mobile phone case a different color
The materials we use are suuuuuuper simple:
-
Alcohol
-
Waterfall
-
Crepe paper
The first thing we did was clean the used case thoroughly with alcohol. This is to eliminate any residue of dirt that could compromise our subsequent dyeing.

Next, we cut the crepe paper into strips, to facilitate the release of the ink when it is immersed in water. There is not a right amount of paper.

Then we light the fire and put a pot with plenty of water. As it boiled, we dipped the crepe paper into the water until we noticed the ink was loosening. So we put out the fire.

The next step was to dip the already cleaned case into the pan and leave it there for at least five minutes. According to the indication in the original video, coming out of the water, the case would be renewed, with a new color.

Result: Does dyeing the cell phone case with crepe paper work?
Quick answer: yes, it works loooong!
We were able to notice the transformation as soon as we took the lid off the jar, however our editor went even further and decided to test if it was possible to make the color fade or if it could stain our skin and clothes.
The first method he used was the famous “finger mop”, which involves rubbing (surprisingly) a lot of your finger across the top of the case to see if it releases ink or fades. Surprisingly, the finger was clean and the ink on the cover did not fade; point for the cape!
Another test he did was rubbing the surface with alcohol. In this case, the result was different, because the cover released ink, however, the more it rubbed, the less ink came out. In addition, the case that has been dyed has kept its uniform color, which suggests that the ink that came out was more superficial.

Another curiosity is that this colored cape still exists, even after months from the dyeing process the color remains intact and very beautiful. In short, the technique is amazing but it requires cleaning the cape well with alcohol before and after dyeing.

Crepe paper looks good on the phone, but not on the hair
Although crepe paper is great for dyeing some materials and objects, it is not uncommon to find people who have used its dye to dye their hair:
“It works a lot! I’ve already dyed my hair with crepe paper. Kkkkk”says Gabrielle Neparo in our instagram.
“Guys, in my adolescence I used crepe paper to color my hair, it made streaks and it lasted several days!”comments Janaína Silva on our TikTok.
“I dyed my hair like this … Teeneeee!”adds Marcela Reis on our Facebook page.
“There was a rumor that you could dye your hair with the crepe. I went to do it with the red crepe. The expectation was to look like Mike Shinoda in the One Step Closer video, the reality is that it looked like I was clubbed head. “Lucas Ricardo jokes on our YouTube channel.
While it is possible to dye hair with crepe paper, this technique is not recommended as it can harm the health of the hair, according to cosmetologist and biochemist Heloisa Olivan in an interview for the Minha Vida website.
According to the expert, the process can make hair intensely dry and porous. Additionally, it can also cause dermatitis and scalp allergies, depending on the person.
What do we learn from this advice?
- Painting the case with crepe paper works very well;
- It is possible to eliminate the yellowing of the cases by dyeing them;
- With little care, the colored cover does not fade or stain;
- It is not recommended to dye your hair with crepe paper.
