And then, together, we developed this dress, which is made entirely of leather crochet, with natural leather ribbons.” It is a knitted and interspersed crochet weave, made with strips of manually cut leather scraps.
“This leftover leather comes from a social project in rural areas, which is very interesting. Like so many other products developed from the reuse of leather by the Brazilian clothing industry, Juma’s dress is part of a collective production and design project. cooperation involving women craftsmen from rural communities around Jacqueline’s studio and from several other locations in Espírito Santo, “she explained.
According to her, part of this production in the manual cutting of strips of leather trimmings is also destined for work and income as a way of resocializing women who have left the prison system, who are part of a project called Novas Marias. “The aim of this project is sustainability from the beginning to the end of the process: in addition to Jacqueline and her team extending the useful life of this raw material, slaughter goat leather – which is mistakenly discarded and can be very harmful. for the environment -, they transform it into decorative and fashion objects, rich in content and with the true humanization of dressing and using, through craftsmanship “, stated the stylist in the promotional material. Marie Salles also said that the only accessory she uses and will put aside later, because she wants to be as free as possible, is a composition of dried flowers. “We wanted to do the whole thing with dried flowers, with leftovers of leather, but on the wedding day she doesn’t use it because she will take off the arrangement, take off her shoes and get married barefoot,” she revealed.
Jupiter’s costume will be all ocher, with a guaiac and panteneira band. The look will be denim with a jacket.

The dress of the character Muda has acquired a handmade look, made by the seamstresses of Estúdios Globo. “There are two fabrics, one sheer with weft, and a floral fabric, underneath. When she walks, this floral fabric appears, with very small prints,” said Marie Salles. On her head she also has a garland of dried flowers, in pink and lilac colors, which accompany the print of the dress. The piece was also produced by Globo Studios’ props team.
