As mentioned, the table and chairs are indispensable furnishings for any dining room. Therefore, the interior designer believes that the list of first steps consists in evaluating the concept of the project, as well as the number of residents and specific family issues, such as the presence of children.

Layout and size are key when deciding the shape of the table. According to Giselli, a narrower dining room responds well with a rectangular piece, leaving the environment more suitable for everyday use. For those who have a more generous space and intends to receive many people at home, the round table it is indicated by the ease of inserting an extra seat and by allowing good circulation and interaction between guests.

Although it is not necessary to strictly follow the style of the table, the the choice of the chair should reveal a certain harmony or counterpoint to the material, For instance. But ergonomics, including height relative to the chosen table, must be taken into consideration. “Comfort is essential, as dinners and parties keep people seated longer,” emphasizes Giseli, who shares his appreciation for models with armrest.

Also according to her, the position helps determine the material used in the upholstery of the pieces. “In warmer regions, it has to be lighter. That’s why I prefer flax or straw,” she exemplifies.

Other complementary furniture

A dining room is not just made up of a table and chairs. Thinking about the functionality, beauty and organization of the environment, objects like sideboards, buffets, porcelain cabinets and shelves are necessary pieces for well-being and complete the decor.. “It is very important to provide a dedicated space for the collection of pieces, such as crockery and cutlery intended for special occasions of the residents, as well as providing support for the dishes that arrive from the kitchen to be served”, Giseli guides.

Cozy and effective lighting

In this dining room housed in the gourmet space, the environment is embellished with abundant natural light coming from outside. However, thinking of the nocturnal moments, the table with 12 positions of chairs received two chandeliers which became a charm of its own in the furniture made by Giseli Koraicho.

Being a very popular environment at night, the correct lighting is essential to bring pleasant sensations, as well as to allow events to take place. For the interior designer, a compositional lighting project is the best solution, as the direct attention on the table can reflect and disturb the guests’ vision, as well as heat the environment.

Among the possibilities, the interior decoration can adhere to the pendant or chandelier on the table, always using warm or yellow light to satisfy the proposal for a more welcoming climate. For this reason, LED lamps are also very welcome, as well as halogen or even fluorescent lamps that guarantee complete lighting and provide the necessary visual comfort. “We cannot forget indirect lighting on shelves, paintings and decorative objects that complement the lighting and well-being,” he adds.

Dinner integrated with other environments

Super aligned with the social area, the dining room can be integrated with other environments such as the living room and the balcony. In fact, this harmony is increasingly present, both in compact buildings and in larger ones, always with the aim of providing more space and allowing fluidity, conviviality between people, in addition to the circulation of air and natural light.

Although each space reveals its personality, Giseli Koraicho recommends working with a similar language between the dining room and the living room, for example. “In this characterization, lighting is a key resource to define any environment,” he explains.

The appreciation of receiving

It is possible to adapt the concept of the minibar to the social environments of the residence, such as the balcony and the living room. However, the ideal place to place it is in the dining room: the drinks corner – cellar, brewery or spirits, can be of different sizes, depending on the space available.

One of the advantages of being close to the dining room is that it provides support during meals and gatherings. It also performs the function of dividing two integrated environments, segmenting each place. “It’s not a big secret. We can do it through a beautiful carpentry, adapting the furniture according to the space and the needs of the residents”, concludes Giseli.
