Architects Carina and Ieda Korman, who together lead the Korman Arquitetos studio, explain how to bring the environment to life

Whether they are narrow or very spacious, the runners they are white tables, which allow you to express creativity and reinforce the style of the house with fascinating details. As this is a transitional area, the décor concept can be bold and lead to amazing composition.

The architects Carina and Ieda Korman, who together lead the studio Korman architectsalways invest in the creation of gallery walls and shelves, in the use of mirrors and also in a revamping that gives dynamism to this passage.
you bet Colors impactful is a great way to give runners personality. “One tip is to use monochrome, which is currently very popular. Another option is to choose two shades: one for the side walls, another for the back wall and the ceiling,” says Carina Korman.

The highlighting of the back wall – or door – is capable of making a visual impact, while the differentiated color of the ceiling gives the impression that the ceiling is higher.
“The wallpaper is easy to apply and can be combined with other furnishing objects, such as paintings. The three-dimensional wall tiles, on the other hand, play with the effect of light and shadow and stimulate curiosity to the touch”, says Ieda Korman on the use of patterns and textures that, according to her, can be explored without fear.
shelves

The inhabitant of this apartment is an avid reader: the love for books is so great that her vast collection could not fit into the office and, to proudly incorporate them into the furniture, Carina and Ieda have developed a bookcase in the corridor, which began to house this vast collection. The solution allowed a multipurpose circulation without overloading the passage.
Artwork

Easy to create and full of personality, Carina explains that the gallery wall is one of the funniest ways to decorate a hallway. In this case, the wall can be neutral, highlighting works of art, collages or photographs. In addition, a beautiful sculpture, located at the end of the corridor, has everything to attract attention and stand out in the décor.
mirrors

An elegant way to cover one of the walls in a corridor is to use a mirror, as it gives a feeling of spaciousness to the space and, in some cases, also helps with lighting – a good lighting design is essential for this type of environment. For example, plaster cutouts can be used to create differentiated lighting.
Special tip: Brise

A brise that opens and closes, allowing the separation of environments when desired, is, in a certain sense, a corridor. In this project, the Korman architects created a partition between the dining room and the access to the toilet and closet, arranged on the other side of the panels.
Here, the highlight is the structure itself, which, in freijó wood, gives the space a rustic feel of coziness.
