Can you believe that your baby is already over 10cm? The size is similar to that of an apple! Who was a bean for until the other day, huh? It is very likely that, at 15 weeks of pregnancy, you will already notice your belly getting bigger, especially if this is not your first pregnancy. The time has come when it’s easier to enjoy, without constraints, advantages such as preferential service or priority seating in restaurants, waiting rooms and public transport.
Indeed, you have it from the moment you find out you are expecting a baby, but in real life many mothers end up feeling embarrassed or thinking they don’t need it in the first few weeks. But don’t hesitate to ask about the benefits, as they don’t exist at all. Pregnant women should not spend so much time on their feet, in order not to overload the body, muscles and circulation. Above all, it is important to sit down if you intend to use public transport, for example. This is because it is much more dangerous to fall and hurt yourself at this stage of life. Better not risk it, right?
15 weeks pregnant: how is your emotional state?
Many mothers feel confused and stressed, not only because of all the changes and worries, but also because of hormones. Try to relax whenever possible by doing activities that you enjoy, such as watching a good movie, listening to your favorite music, walking in the fresh air… For some women, massage, meditation and some therapies, such as the use of flowers, help. In principle there are no contraindications, but it doesn’t hurt to talk to your doctor. Just make sure you take care of yourself.
Does your belly itch?
It is normal to feel a little itchy and dry skin, especially in the belly area. This is another occurrence that can be attributed to pregnancy hormones. Plus, the skin is stretching to accommodate the new size of your uterus, with baby, placenta, amniotic sac, and the whole package. The breasts also acquire volume and grow.
Use a neutral moisturizer, preferably hypoallergenic, to relieve tightness and itching. However, if the symptom is exaggerated and intense, talk to your doctor. It could be a sign of a complication affecting the liver called cholestasis.
What happens in there, at 15 weeks pregnant?
We can define this week as a “test” phase: your baby swallows the amniotic fluid, which will be digested in his intestines, testing the absorption system. To learn sucking movements, as he will do with mother’s milk in the future, he strives to suck the liquid – and also breathes it, passing it through the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli.
The baby is already moving his legs, arms, fingers, wrist and even his neck. And while you may not notice it, he likes to toss and turn and he often gets the hiccups. Your child’s hair pattern is already determined, but that doesn’t mean he’ll come into the world full of strands.
At this stage, it develops a layer of hair around its entire body called lanugo. Some of these hairs will remain until birth, but will then fall out. It is extra protection against injury and also helps maintain the baby’s body temperature while immersed in the amniotic fluid. Your child also already has small eyelashes and a thin eyebrow. Despite remaining closed, his eyes are sensitive to a lot of light.
It’s still:
