1 month with treadmill at home: is it worth it?

Our editor tested investing and counting impressions

Even with the end of social isolation, you may choose to walk or run on a treadmill inside your home for different reasons: rainy weather, cold, hostile terrain, commitments that keep you at home… In my case it was due to surgery preventing me from leaving the house encouraging light exercise for 2 weeks.

1 month with treadmill at home: is it worth it?

So I decided to test 1 month of treadmill at home.

The test was carried out on the GT 4000, by GENIS Fitness, a Polishop brand. It’s a very technological treadmill that also has a partnership with the Kinomap application, providing videos that simulate running and walking anywhere in the world (excellent for those who need to stay indoors and can’t stand the view from their living room more room).

THE FIRST WEEK:

get used to it

If you are not someone who already has a habit of walking or running, I can say that having a treadmill at home is perfect for creating this routine. I myself have tried to schedule myself to go out in the morning and walk countless times but laziness always wins me over.

Now, having a treadmill that sits directly in front of my television (where I asked them to put it) makes this easier, a lot. When I figured it out, at the end of an episode of brazil star queenthat I ran a marathon, an hour had already passed in which I walked without getting tired.

SECOND WEEK:

Test new parameters

After a week, in which I’d already created the habit and been approved by my doctor for more vigorous walking, it was time to test the treadmill options itself. Instead of watching television, I programmed an outdoor route simulation using the Kinomap application.

At the same time as the video showing the incline, for example, the treadmill automatically changed settings to increase or decrease the incline, providing a very faithful experience in terms of physical effort, which was great for the my body to “wake up”. ” of the period of low activity.

THIRD WEEK:

active work

On the 15th day I can say that I’ve already got used to the new “terrains”, i.e. the changes in inclination and speed of the proposed simulations, and I felt free to position my laptop above the display on the treadmill.

I always wanted to be one of those people who works out on a treadmill instead of sitting in an office chair 8 hours a day. And I can say that it was really worth it! The feeling of moving your body while working is really good and, even though that wasn’t the goal, I noticed that my stomach deflated after starting this habit — maybe not so much for fat burning but for the improved posture, since I wasn’t hunched over the computer.

FOURTH WEEK:

Run, Larissa, run

Then came the dreaded time to try what most people with home treadmills probably like: running workouts.

The treadmill gives you the option to synchronize the simulations of the application, maintaining the pace you want or even synchronize the speed options. In this second alternative, not only the terrain is simulated, with the slopes, but also the acceleration and deceleration of the treadmill.

I have to confess that running is not my favorite sport, but having the confidence to train at home on safer ground (as opposed to the shaky ground of the roads) has definitely made my training so much easier!

CONCLUSION

If you have the condition (and the space) to have a treadmill at home, get it! Even if you’re not a runner, walking has been shown to be one of the best activities for your health and fat burning if that’s your goal.

What has already been proven by science is that the ideal for our health is to be active frequently during a period of a day, with routine body movements, instead of being sedentary 23 hours a day and moving only 1 hour in gym. .

Having a treadmill at home allows you to do it with ease and pleasure!
