A tree for every child born: discover the project!

The Tree of Life is now in effect in Garibaldi, RS. Some other Brazilian municipalities have already taken the initiative to plant a tree for every child born

Planting more trees is one of the most effective ways to fight climate change. You create people who are committed, from the very beginning of their lives, to the environmental cause as well. After all, this is the generation that will live with the consequences of the way we now deal with our planet. The city of Garibaldi, in Rio Grande do Sul, was another to join the Árvore da Vida project, which consists in planting a tree for every child born in the municipality.

A tree for every child born: discover the project!

The first child to receive a tree, as part of the project in the city of Rio Grande do Sul, was Otávio Haupt. In August, a yellow ipê seedling was planted at the Sports Complex of the Municipal Gym. Also, like all the children born in the city since the project was implemented, Otávio has won a plaque in the shape of a foot, engraved with his name and date of birth.

The initiative is from the Rotary Club Garibaldi and is already underway in some other Brazilian municipalities, such as Sorocaba (SP), Guarapari (ES), Passos (MG) and São Caetano do Sul (SP), among others.

A tree for every child: practical!

If the project does not yet exist in your city, how about taking the suggestion to your representatives in the city council? Oh, and you can also plant a tree yourself and invite your friends and family to do the same. Step by step, we get there, right?

Trees absorb carbon, use the gas and convert it into oxygen. In this way they help regulate the climate and clean the air, among other functions. Imagine if all the cities of the world joined such an initiative, that of planting a tree for every child born? That would be more or less 400,000 new trees a day!

Simple, symbolic and effective.
