How to reject someone without hurting their feelings? Do I need to point out the flaws?

It really depends on the type of rejection you’re talking about here: love, work… But, in general, rejection is not accepting something, rejecting it and resisting it. Your empathy will depend on how you handle rejection in your day-to-day life. That is, how you received your first “no” and how you will show it to the other. How would you like to receive? Try not to feel guilty about not accepting something, but also try to put yourself in the position of the person being rejected.

To be more empathetic, you have to listen to the other and understand what they want. It is also interesting to mediate words, to be as delicate and objective as possible, while remaining sincere and firm. Try not to be so critical as to why you don’t want more. It is preferable not to point out faults at this point, because the other will be offended and, many times, will receive this “no” as disgust. Express gratitude for the time spent together, if applicable.

You need to understand that not being accepted once doesn’t mean it will happen every time. It could be something of the moment, it could be a precise denial and not a refusal.

Today’s yes can be tomorrow’s no, both for you and for anyone else, so keep it friendly and think carefully before the conversation. It is also preferable to be in person or over the phone, but never over the phone Whatsapp🇧🇷
