5 tips to make the most of natural light, even when you have little

One of the key elements of any decorating project is the use of natural lightsince a well-lit environment appears fresher, more lively and welcoming.

But since we know that the trend is for small apartments, crowded in the middle of other buildings, that even the sun drying clothes on the clothesline is difficult, we have separated some tips for making your space appear to have more natural light than it actually has.

1. Mirror, my mirror

This is a matter of physics, really. Mirrors are light-reflecting surfaces, so with mirrors in your decor, you can harness every ray of sunlight and spread it around the room. For those looking to take it a step further, the mirrored furniturelike tables and counters, it can be an unusual way to incorporate them into environments.

2. Avoid the little black dress

Dark tones can be great in the closet and even in some rooms, but for places with low light, they suck. Colors such as black and brown, both in furniture and in decorative objects such as carpets, absorb light and make the space feel warmer, suffocating and even a little morbid.

TO bright colours (not necessarily just white) they help lift the mood and also brighten by reflecting light.

3. Don’t be afraid to shine!

Feel free to embed bright elements in your decor. We’re not talking about furniture with glitter (but go ahead if you like it!), but about those pieces with a painted surface, called shine, or glossy lacquered. They are very elegant and versatile, ideal for living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms.

Light options for these pieces help diffuse the light entering through the windows.

4. Artificial light

This is pretty obvious, but if you don’t have a dog, hunt with a cat. Artificial lights are essential, even in a well-lit location. A good tip for choosing the best option is to look for full spectrum lamps. They’re made to simulate natural light, so they’re warmer.

5. Invest in small plants

🇧🇷

If all else fails, plants are the solution! Find species that don’t need much light such as anthuriums, orchids, small cacti, and some foliage. They will keep the house fresh, purifying the air, as well as bringing life to the environment.

But don’t go overboard with pots, many plants can end up covering your bright entryways.
