Father who beats his daughters on the beach in Salvador tries to justify himself: “I was wrong for love”

A video showing two girls violently beaten by their father on a beach in Salvador (BA) has generated revolt on social media in the last few hours. In the images, the children appear receiving slippers and being forcefully pushed to the ground.. The girls’ father and perpetrator of the attacks appeared crying and apologizing for the attitude.

The scene of the attack was filmed by bathers last Sunday, 1st, on the beach of Itapuã, in Salvador. According to the father, identified as Angelo Manoel, the situation occurred after the sisters left the umbrella where the family was and got lost on the beach.

As soon as they returned, the 7- and 10-year-old girls were met with violence by the man.

In a public apology, the abuser weeps and says he loves his daughters. “Nothing will justify what I did, I was wrong, but I want to tell you that I am not a monster. Those people who talk about me do not know the love I have for my daughters,” he said.

“At the same time, the anger passed and I apologized. I hit my children, but it was with the intention of educating. (…) I could have spoken, it could have been otherwise. I did it in the worst way and I was wrong for love, because I thought my daughter was dead,” he added.

Watch an excerpt from the testimonial below:

“As strong as those images are, my daughters are here, they don’t have a bruise, they don’t have a mark. I’ve acknowledged my mistake of hitting too much, but I ask, for God’s sake, that they have mercy. I’m a father, I love my family, I love my daughters. Everyone looks at me like a monster, like an animal, like the worst misery that exists on Earth,” he said.

In the depositions, the man claims to be a fugitive. He and his family live in the city of Feira de Santana (BA) and were in the capital to celebrate the New Year. Now, the case will be conducted by the Guardianship Council and the Civil Police.
