RIVER – A Petrobras announces on Wednesday 8 investments for R$ 2.6 billion in Bayintended for the ordering of ships and the reopening of the fertilizer factory (Fafen) in the state. During Thursday’s event, a memorandum of intent will also be signed to carry out feasibility studies that will evaluate the use of the São Roque do Paraguaçu construction site, in the same municipality, as an abutment area for the platforms being decommissioned by Petrobras.

In December 2024, the Enseada shipyard, on the banks of the Paraguaçu River, was selected as a shipbuilding partner for Compagnie Maritime Monegasque (CMM) in a tender for the delivery of six large multipurpose hybrid vessels (5,000 DWT), type PSV-OSRV, to Petrobras.



In September, Petrobras concluded the tender for the procurement of operation and maintenance (O&M) services for nitrogen fertilizer factories in Bahia and Sergipe. The return to operations is expected to occur by the end of 2025.

During Thursday’s event, with President Lula, the Ministry of Ports and Airports will announce an investment of R$611.7 million in the construction of 80 ships intended to expand activities in the naval and waterways sector.

Of this total, R$550.5 million will come from the Merchant Navy Fund (FMM). The financing has the potential to generate more than 2 thousand direct jobs. To date, four ships have been completed and three more are under construction, Planalto reported.
