The problem causes the muscles to pull apart, the abdomen to sag, and can cause pain.
After a series of criticisms from internet users about her physique, the digital influencer Bianca Andrade, also known as “Boca Rosa”, had to show herself on social media. According to her, some of the photos of her have attracted public attention due to the gap in the abdomen region, prompting allegations that the former BBB had an unsuccessful cosmetic procedure.
However, through a post, the entrepreneur explained that the deformity is due to abdominal diastasis, a consequence of Cris’ one-year pregnancy, the result of her relationship with the youtuber Bruno Carneiro, better known as Fred.
What is Abdominal Diastasis?
According to plastic surgeon Dr. Carlos Conte, this is a situation characterized by the removal of the rectus abdominis muscles, which can lead to sagging of the region and pain in the lower back months after delivery. This happens because pregnancy ends up causing the muscles of the body to stretch abdomencausing it to split into two parts. However, the condition is considered rare. Even so, it turns out to be unpleasant because it is noticeable, with the appearance of a vertical relief, as in the case of the influencer.
“The female body undergoes many changes during pregnancy and these changes occur rapidly due to hormonal changes. As pregnancy progresses, the body must adapt to accommodate the baby. This regulation of the connective tissue, associated with biomechanical alterations for uterine growth “, can cause abduction (extension of the rectus abdominis muscle), which persists until postpartum, the famous diastasis. Today we have many therapeutic options that help mothers to have good results, recovering health and self-esteem”.

Methods to treat the condition
According to Dr. Carlos Conte, physical exercises and diets do not solve some cases, because the region cannot return to its natural state. According to him, the execution of a surgery can be accurate, as the problem can impair the muscle capacity of the belly and lead to pain in the back, buttocks and legs.
“The gap can be greater or less than 2 cm. When it is smaller, abdominal exercises and physiotherapy can help shrink the gap in 2 to 3 months time. However, when the ‘gap’ is larger, and can extend up to 5cm, the plication procedure is recommended, which is the rectum correction technique,” he explains.
how to prevent?
Certain attitudes can help prevent diastasis recti, such as:
- Practice breathing exercises every day. For just five minutes, she breathes in and out until her chest and abdomen feel light;
- Maintain good posture during gestation period, strengthening the abdominal region. Pilates is in great demand;
- Avoid fatty foods to avoid becoming overweight.
