With more than 1000 baguettes, the snack promises to break the Guinness Book of Records
The mortadella sandwich is one of the trademarks of São Paulo, and is a guaranteed presence in the itineraries of tourists who visit the city. Many of the sandwiches are impressive in size and quantity of mortadella, especially the one served at the Municipal Market of São Paulo, but a curious event during the city’s anniversary will change your mind about what, in reality, a great sandwich is.
The world’s largest mortadella sandwich will be assembled this Wednesday (25th), in an event celebrating the anniversary of São Paulo. The snack will be presented at the Fundação Bienal and is part of the “Week of Mortandela”, an action that celebrates the city’s most loved sausage. The initiative will be verified by the Guinness Book.
The size of the snack is impressive. The sandwich has 1075 30cm baguettes and more than 270 kilos of mortadella. The “snack” will make 3,225 pieces, and also includes sun-dried tomatoes, parmesan and honey.
‘Mortandela Week’ is an action promoted by Perdigão in collaboration with Galeria dos Pães. The sandwich will be presented at noon and admission is free. In addition to the sandwich, the event will have activities that will tell curiosities about mortadella, from smoking to unconventional recipes with sausage.
