Marvel Studios is developing two Special Presentations projects for Disney+ for 2027, according to insider James Mack. One project will reportedly focus on a solo character, while the second project is expected to revolve around a team.

The solo special may feature Bullseye, a character from the series Daredevil: Born Again. Actor Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye, admitted that he hopes Disney+ and Marvel Television will confirm a special for his character following his appearance in the second season of Daredevil, which arrived on the streaming platform in March.

Marvel Studios Production Changes

The company previously achieved global acclaim and audience success with two Avengers feature films. However, Marvel Studios experienced multiple critical setbacks and a drop in quality between the pandemic and 2025. The decline was largely driven by a large volume of Disney+ television series that failed to satisfy mainstream Marvel audiences.

To address the issue, Marvel divided its operations one year ago. Kevin Feige took charge of feature films, while Brad Winderbaum assumed leadership of Marvel Television. The studio has since regained commercial momentum, supported by strong box office results for Spider-Man: Brand New Day and high audience interest in Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Marvel is continuing to expand its television specials after the success of its recent release, The Punisher.

Disney+ Free Access Proposals

Alongside Marvel development, Disney Chief Executive Officer Josh D'Amaro confirmed that Disney+ is evaluating a free account option to attract new users and expand market reach. Disney+ holds a competitive catalog featuring titles from Marvel, Star Wars, FOX, Disney, and Pixar.

Disney has not announced a launch date or a finalized plan for the free service. The company is considering several methods to offer content without a paid subscription. One option gaining support is the introduction of free ad-supported streaming television, known as FAST channels, inside Disney+. The format mirrors models used by platforms such as Prime Video and Movistar Plus in Spain, offering a limited rotation of movies, series, and sample episodes supported by advertising.

TikTok Content Partnership

Disney aims to use free access as an entry gateway to convert casual viewers into paid subscribers. The company is also launching a partnership with TikTok that will allow users to create videos featuring characters from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and other Disney franchises.

The TikTok project will launch as a pilot program in the United States. Disney plans to expand the feature to additional international markets if the initial pilot proves successful.
