Marvel Unveils New X-Men Cast Featuring Hit TV Actors

Marvel Studios has revealed the primary cast for its upcoming X-Men reboot during Disney's D23 presentation, recruiting a line-up of prominent television actors including Sadie Sink, Kit Connor, Christopher Abbott, Samara Weaving, Inde Navarrette, Maya Boyd, and Adam Driver.

The announcement confirmed Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister.

The new line-up brings together established Hollywood names alongside actors taking their first major leap into blockbuster filmmaking. Although Marvel Studios has not yet publicly finalized the entire cast for the project, the initial wave relies heavily on performers who built their reputations across hit television series on Netflix, HBO, and DC.

Marvel signs well-known television stars for its new generation of X-Men.

Sadie Sink and Kit Connor lead youth cast

Sadie Sink will take on the role of Jean Grey, one of the essential members of the X-Men and among the most powerful mutants in the Marvel universe. Sink became a household name playing Max Mayfield on the Netflix hit series Stranger Things, joining the cast in its second season before becoming a central figure in the show. Her earlier television credits include playing Suzanne Ballard in American Odyssey and appearing as a child actor in The Americans.

Kit Connor has been selected to portray Scott Summers, the mutant leader known as Cyclops. Connor is best known for starring as Nick Nelson in the Netflix teen drama Heartstopper, a role that turned him into one of the streaming platform's most recognizable young stars. Before that success, Connor built an extensive career as a child actor, appearing in the television adaptation of War and Peace and voicing Pantalaimon, the daemon companion to Lyra, in His Dark Materials. His casting sees him transition from high school drama to leading Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Girls alumni Christopher Abbott and Adam Driver

Christopher Abbott will assume the role of Charles Xavier, taking over Professor X from previous franchise actors Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy. Abbott remains widely recognized for playing Charlie Dattolo, the romantic interest of Marnie, on the HBO series Girls. He later expanded his television portfolio by starring in the miniseries Catch-22, appearing as Mason Tannetti in the first season of The Sinner, and joining the cast of The Crowded Room. Abbott is also set to appear in an upcoming television adaptation of East of Eden alongside Florence Pugh.

Adam Driver joins the cast as Mister Sinister, one of the primary historical enemies of the X-Men. While Driver has achieved global film fame as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars franchise, his career breakthrough originated on television. He played Adam Sackler across six seasons of HBO's Girls, earning multiple Primetime Emmy nominations. His earlier television work included roles in The Unusuals and Law and Order. His casting reunites him with his former Girls co-star Abbott within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Inde Navarrette and Samara Weaving join superhero lineup

Inde Navarrette has been cast as Rogue, marking a transition from the DC television universe to Marvel Studios. Navarrette previously appeared as Estela de la Cruz in the fourth season of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why before taking on her most prominent television role as Sarah Cushing, the daughter of Lana Lang and Kyle Cushing, in the series Superman and Lois.

Samara Weaving will portray Emma Frost in the new film. Although Weaving has recently focused on horror and dark comedy films, her acting career began in television. She spent several years playing Indi Walker on the long-running Australian soap opera Home and Away, followed by roles in SMILF and the miniseries Picnic at Hanging Rock. She also appeared in Ryan Murphy's Netflix series Hollywood and played Jessica Chandler in Nine Perfect Strangers alongside Nicole Kidman.

Broadway performer Maya Boyd cast as Storm

Maya Boyd represents the lone exception to the television background of the new cast, stepping into the role of Storm directly from the theatre world. Boyd has established her career on stage, performing in Broadway productions such as Merrily We Roll Along and starring as Juliet in the musical comedy & Juliet. Playing Storm marks her major debut in film and screen acting.

Marvel Studios has yet to announce the remaining cast members for the X-Men reboot. However, the initial announcement at D23 confirms that the studio is leaning on established television talent and stage performers to anchor its next generation of mutant heroes.
