Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, attended the premiere of The Odyssey in Seoul, South Korea, on Monday night, joined by two of their four daughters.
Damon, 55, was accompanied by Barroso, 50, and daughters Gia, 17, and Stella, 15. The couple's two older daughters, Alexia, 27, and Isabella, 20, did not appear to be present.
Damon looked sharp on the red carpet in a muted plum-hued suit paired with a silver shirt and tie, while Barroso wore a low-cut, electric blue gown that was form-fitting before pooling slightly below the knees.
The family is known for being close-knit and low-key, leading relatively normal lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Family dinner rule
Just last month, Damon revealed the rule he refuses to break to keep his family close. He told People that they have family dinner every night, calling it non-negotiable and something that has always been the case.
Damon admitted the family sometimes struggles to stay present despite the routine. He recalled one of his daughters pointing out that they hadn't actually talked during a recent family dinner, which made him realize how easy it is to go through the motions without appreciating why the routine was set up in the first place. He described it as the kind of family mindfulness they are all working on.
Marriage and approaching an empty nest
Damon and Barroso met at a bar in Miami in 2003 before marrying in December 2005. With two of their four daughters already having left home, the Boston native said he and his wife are facing and embracing the reality of becoming empty nesters in the near future.
He said they have been talking a lot about presence and about really trying to be in the moment, adding that because time cannot be slowed down, the only way to do it is to actually be there and be in it.
The Odyssey's box office run
The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, has recently crossed the $450 million mark at the box office. The film adapts Homer's ancient Greek narrative of the same name, following the Greek king Odysseus on a perilous journey home after the Trojan War as he tries to reunite with his wife, Penelope.
Damon plays Odysseus, while Anne Hathaway, 43, stars as his devoted queen, who is forced to fend off potential suitors during her husband's absence.
Damon revealed in July that a female stunt double was enlisted to help emphasize the size difference between the giants and Odysseus in the film. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said Canadian actress and stunt performer Devyn Dalton had the greatest arms he had ever seen.
The project has been called Nolan's most extreme undertaking to date. Known for his blockbuster films, his latest could prove his most ambitious yet, with a $250 million budget, the most expensive of his career, and his first film shot entirely on IMAX 70mm cameras.
