Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the third installment of the mini-heroes saga. The adventure, which should take place almost entirely in the Quantum Realm, will have Kang as its main villain, but another famous Marvel antagonist, present in the trailers of the new feature film is MODOK, must have a curious link with the first film, according to director Peyton Reed .
In a website interview Screen joke, Reed, who directed the entire trilogy, provided some details on the villain’s origin. So of course it goes without saying that this text will contain minor (literally) spoilers for the new hero movie.
Minor Ant-Man 3 spoilers
Reed hints that MODOK is actually Yellowjacket, the villain from Ant-Man 1 played by Darren Cross. This would be the fate of the antagonist after being imprisoned in the Quantum Realm at the end of the first chapter of the trilogy.
“MODOK has been queued for a while. I know there have been conversations for other movies, like “would this fit?” What would it look like in live-action?’ We came up with an idea: how would we bring our family to the Quantum Realm, connect with Kang, how would Kang know about the Ant Family? And then I was like, ‘What happened to Yellowjacket at the end of the first Ant-Man?’” said the director.
Of course, despite the director’s jokes and fan theory, MODOK’s true origin will only be known upon the film’s release. The good news is that it won’t take fans long to find out, as Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters this Thursday (16th).
