The internet is full of jokes – jokes, sarcastic jokes, statements so ridiculous they can only be made for laughs. But readers, we assure you: either way, this is no joke. Earlier this year, audiences (justifiably) lost their minds at the action movie’s hilarious and matter-of-fact monosyllabic title Does What It Says on Gerard Butler’s latest box, Airplane. Appropriate, since this was a film that largely took place on (or around and following the events of) an airplane. And the movie was a modest success, which in Hollywood terms means a sequel is on the way. The name of Airplane continuation? Boat. Not exactly.
As confirmed today, Mike Colter, who starred in Airplane alongside Butler, he will return as Louis Gaspar Boat, sequel in which director Jean-François Richet returns as executive producer. The film will continue from where Airplane left Caspar (SPOILER WARNING!), staying on the island of Jolo, where much of the action in this film took place. It is currently unknown if Butler will return, even in a limited capacity. There hasn’t been any confirmation from writers or directors yet for Boatbut should go into production by the end of 2023.
For all the information that hasn’t been announced yet, we know what the plot is Boat it will be (yet it will take place on a ship). He sees Gaspare boarding a fishing boat to flee the Philippines and head for South Africa. But once aboard, he realizes that the ship is being used as a ferry for people smuggling, forcing him to team up with a crew member to take down the wayward captain and free the prisoners on board.
In the words of Vin Diesel: “The Movies”.
