to remember

The Super Bowl was held this weekend. Although many blockbusters were released during the finale, the American audience preferred to stay in front of the TV rather than go to the cinema. And the entrances to the theaters are felt.

Steven Soderbergh’s Magic Mike’s Last Dance is on track to earn $8.2 million at the box office this Friday, February 10th in the US. 8 years after Magic Mike XXL, Channing Tatum is reuniting with Salma Hayek for the last dance.

In this third and final opus, Mike (Tatum) returns to the scene after a long absence. After becoming a bartender in Florida, he meets a wealthy socialite played by Salma Hayek. After discovering Mike’s true profession, she offers him to train a troupe of dancers in London. The film should not be released in French cinemas.

Box office leader James Cameron

James Cameron takes the other two places on the podium. For its 9th weekend of release, Avatar: The Divide has collected an additional $6.88 million for a total of $646 million at the North American box office. The remastered version of Titanic grossed $6.4 million. Therefore, the director of the film for him is 13.2 million dollars and, therefore, holds himself as the leader at the box office.

With $2.217 billion at the international box office thanks to its re-release, Titanic is still ahead of Avatar 2, which has taken $2.213 billion worldwide to date. The Waterway should soon surpass the cult film starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Jane Fonda’s comedy 80 Brady is in fourth place with $6 million, while M. Night Shyamalan’s new film, Knock at the Cabin, is now in fifth place (it was in first place last weekend). The feature film grossed $5.5 million at the BO US for a total of $23.4 million.

Note that aside from the Magic Mike and Titanic re-releases, there are no other releases in the US box office top 10 this weekend.
