The ski slopes and ski slopes, how to dress for the -5ºC cold and of course the ticket prices
With a mild climate, mountainous relief, pointed roofs and European influences in the gastronomy, Gramado only needed abundant snow to make it seem even more like an Alpine village. Some flakes can also fall from the sky between June and July, which corresponds to the high season in the Serra Gaúcha. But since the inauguration of the first artificial indoor snow park in the Americas in 2013, one can kill the desire for a white winter at any time of the year. In a city increasingly rich in theme parks (Acquamotion and Vila da Mônica have only opened in recent years), Snowland remains the most popular. After all, it has brought to the tropics the possibility of ice skating, skiing and even downhill skiing in an area that exceeds eight thousand square meters – and where the temperature reaches -5ºC.
Separate entrances and exits
The attraction is about a 15-minute drive from downtown Lawn and has its own parking, which costs R$ 30 per day. Tickets can be purchased in advance via the website and prices vary depending on the season. In general, public holidays and the months of January, February, June, July, August, November and December are considered high season, when the visit costs BRL 229 for people aged 12 to 59 and BRL 159 for people aged 4 to 11 years or over 60 years. In low season, i.e. for the rest of the year, the prices drop to R$ 199 and R$ 124.50 respectively. Children up to three years of age always have free admission.
After showing your ticket, you receive a bracelet that unlocks the turnstiles and is used to consume food, drinks and other products inside the snow landthus eliminating the need to go around the theme park with cash or credit card. From the entrance, a ramp leads directly to the place where you take off your coat and waterproof trousers, boots and gloves suitable for the snow. Borrowing these items is included in the ticket price, but the process can be a bit tumultuous.
Especially since you have to “guess” the right size for you: there are XS, S, M, L, XL and XXL for adults and 5 to 6, 8 to 10, 12 to 14 and 16 for children. I got it right the first time, but it’s not uncommon to see people having to go back to change parts that are too small or too large, which causes some confusion in the queue. The boots are stacked in wooden logs, separated by a number, and in order not to lose the pair, they are attached to each other by a clip. Even so, it happens that the right foot separates from the left and a size 36 boot, for example, ends up in the neighboring box with size 35 boots.
Next, there is a sort of collective changing room with wooden benches for placing clothes and for sitting down to put on boots. There is no division between men and women: the idea is to put the waterproof jacket and trousers over the clothes you arrived in, also because the pieces provided by the park are not enough for the -5ºC cold.
There is a place to store your shoe for free. Even so, it’s very likely that you’ll need to rent one of the lockers, which costs R$30 a day, to store a heavier coat you were already wearing. I’ve seen people cram everything into a purse or backpack, but those bulges can be cumbersome when playing. The locker key is attached to a small bag that you can sling over your shoulder and store the bare essentials, like your cell phone.

Snow Mountain: ski and ski
Meanwhile I was already sweating from the heat with that pile of clothes. But the thermal shock arrived as soon as I left the dressing room and entered snow mountain, as the huge -5ºC air-conditioned space is called. Under the waterproof jacket and trousers, normal trousers, a warm woolen sweater or a sweatshirt will suffice. The sensation of cold is more intense in the extremities: head, hands and especially the feet, which are always close to the ice. Therefore, I recommend going with very thick socks, a hat and a scarf, which can be wrapped high around the neck to protect the tip of the nose. I was to find out later that it’s also a good idea to bring your own gloves. The temptation to step on the artificial snow that is all over the terrain is great and, over time, the glove provided by the park gets completely soaked. An extra pair can be good to swap during the day.
From the outset, what attracts the most attention is the ski and snowboard slope, 15 meters high and 120 meters long with a slight slope. The cold shower, pardon the pun, is that the practice of snow sports is not included in the ticket price. The cheapest “package” costs R$140 with equipment rental (helmet + ski or snowboard), 50 minutes of lesson and 30 minutes of practice. The price goes up to BRL 160 with one hour of practice and to BRL 190 if you want to practice as much as you like, with no time limit. Those who have skied will not find much enjoyment in the experience of snow land. But for those who have never skied before, this is an opportunity to get a taste of what the sport is all about, for far less than any actual resort.
The other attractions in this area are already included in the admission ticket. For small children, they have a lot of fun in snow landthere is a castle with several tracks to slide along the tubes, a cave to take a photo with the Yeti and a carousel in the snow, an attraction opened in 2023 in which the toy “pulls” the tubes.
Older ones (including adults) have three slide options for going down a tube. The largest runs parallel to the ski slope and allows you to walk it hand in hand with another person. The second is through a closed tunnel: you enter from one side of the snow mountain and is surprised to see that it came out of the other. In the third, go down backwards and get good speed. Laughter is guaranteed.
The favorite place to take pictures, after the thermometer that marks the negative temperatures, is a corner with several alpine-style houses where machines hidden on top of the structures throw snow on the visitors. This is also the main stage for snowball fights. Nearby is the hot coffeewhich sells hot chocolate for R$16. It is very tasty and you warm your hands in a hot cup to start with.
Ice rink, other games and food
When you want to take a break from the cold, just step through the front door of the snow mountain towards the area that hosts the skating ring on ice and in some shops and chocolate shops, where the climate is between 15 and 20 °C. This is another game that is included in the ticket: the park provides skates, a helmet, knee and elbow pads at no extra cost. Every day at 2pm there is a beautiful figure skating show. It’s worth arriving a few minutes early to secure a spot closer to the railing surrounding the rink.
Upstairs there is a games room with a ball pit and slides, lots of arcade games and a snowboard simulator (the last two are paid for separately). There is also the food court. OR how is the coffeeor Bamba Burger and the Pizzeria have quick snacks. already the mountain inn is in a separate room, with chairs upholstered in fine fabrics, and the ice bar overlooks the downstairs ski slope. These serve pastas, such as linguine with bechamel and rump bait (R$42.90) and also PF with rice, beans, fries, chicken (R$42.90) or rump (R$47.90). For children, the children’s menu with rice, fries and chicken or strips of meat costs R$ 26.90. The soda costs R$7.90 and the Heineken long neck R$14.
At the end of the day, you must return to the changing rooms to get your belongings from the locker if you have rented one, and go to the returns desk to hand in your coat, trousers, boots and gloves. Going down the same ramp from which you entered you will arrive at the souvenir shop and, further on, at the cash desks to pay for what you consumed during the visit.
