Salto: The streaming platform’s shutdown date has been revealed

The fate of French streaming platform Salto has been hanging in the balance for several months now. After ceasing daily soap operas online and suspending new subscriptions, TF1, France Télévisions and M6, the platform’s main shareholders, announced in an official press release on Wednesday evening that Salto will soon close. The exact date has been announced.

But this Friday afternoon, Salto subscribers received an email informing them that the platform will definitely be closing its doors on Monday, March 27.

We regret to inform you about the shutdown of the SALTO platform on 03/27/2023– it is mentioned in the press release. Subscribers may cancel their subscription at any time prior to this date without obligation. Otherwise, it automatically terminates on March 27.

It also ensures that if the user has subscribed from the salto.fr site by credit card or Paypal, it will automatically be refunded in proportion to the number of days left in the current month.

For subscribers through the Salto app from the Apple or Google Play stores, refunds will be made to the payment method associated with the account. Salto was also created to support subscribers online help to answer all their questions regarding the terms of service termination.

Launched in October 2020 with the ambition of becoming the “new French-style Netflix”, Salto has not achieved the expected success, counting only 800,000 to 900,000 subscribers in 2022.

Not enough metrics to make a streaming platform viable. Salto subscribers now have just a few weeks left to catch up on all of the platform’s exclusive content before it shuts down for good on March 27th.
