The shows at the Sambodromo are back on the official calendar after two years, due to the pandemic

OR carnival it’s a party, but also a battle to show who best defends their flag. Come to think of it, the Independent tricolor opened this Friday, 17, the fashion shows in São Paulo with the plot Samba on foot, spear in hand, this is an invasion! As is already the tradition in the São Paulo carnival, the school that opens the presentations is the one that was in second place in the Access Group the previous year. The show also marked the return of school presentations to the traditional month of February after two years. In 2021 the carnival was suspended due to the pandemic and, in 2022, the associations performed in April.

Based on Greek mythology, Independente Tricolor built its parade using the victory of the Greeks over the Trojans in the Trojan War to create an association with the victories and conquests of territories. The theme was also a reminder of the school’s return to the Special Group, from which it fell in 2018.

Highlights for the frontal commission, Duelo dos Deuses, which brought to the catwalk a reference to the mission of the god Apollo to avoid wars, prior to the Trojan War which, according to Greek mythology, lasted about 10 years, between 1,300 and 1,200 BC An excited crowd filled the stands of Anhembi. The school drew applause when the drums suspended the batucada for a few seconds, allowing the samba-enredo to be sung a capella by the revelers.

Composer for over 20 years, the São Paulo native is author of more than 50 samba plots for carnival associations throughout Brazil.
