From 2005 to 2013, How I Met Your Mother dominated the sitcom world. For nine seasons, the series by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas chronicled the tribulations of a group of twenty-something New Yorkers and their romantic, professional and personal failures as they confided to each other in McLaren’s bar.
How I Met Your Mother is the story of Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), who tells his two sons how he met their mother. He reminisces about his younger years, especially from 2005, when he learns that his best friend Marshall Ericksen (Jason Segel) is going to propose to Lily Aldrin (Alyson Hannigan).
Ted wonders when he will meet his future wife. That’s when he meets Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders) on his last outing at the bar he frequents, McLaren’s Pub, where one of his friends, Barney Stinson (Neil Patrick Harris), helps him meet people.
And the latter character quickly became a fan favorite of How I Met Your Mother. This seductress doubles down on her imagination and ingenuity in questionable methods to attract her conquests, but is entitled to one of the series’ most interesting developments.
It’s no surprise that Barney is returning in the How I Met Your Father, How I Met Your Mother spin-off! It is in Season 2 of this spin-off series, available starting February 15 on Disney+, that this iconic character appears to call out to others.
