Warning – The article below contains very minor spoilers for the plot of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” as it introduces one of its new characters. So please skip ahead if you haven’t seen it yet and don’t want to know anything about it.
We take almost the same thing and start over. If Cassie Lang changed her face when Emma Fuhrman was replaced by Kathryn Newton, her father Scott, the hero of the Ant-Man saga, still has the features of Paul Rudd. And the latter is always surrounded by Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne) and Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), as well as Michelle Pfeiffer (Janet Van Dyne), who joined the adventure in the second part.
But Quantummania marked another return, a less prominent one: that of Davit Dastmalchiani. The actor, as the Joker’s sidekick in The Dark Knight, has a superhero CV as Mr. Fantastic’s arm, having also been seen in Polka Dot Suicide Squad, Gotham and The Flash. and in both parts of the animated film adaptation of A Long Halloween.
In addition to the first two Ant-Mans, in which he plays Kurt, a small-time crook and friend of Scott Lang, as well as Dave (Tip ‘TI’ Harris) and Luis (Michael Pena), known for his Tailless and Headless stories. A trio that we don’t find in Quantumani, which mostly takes place in the quantum world and which doesn’t seem to have been cut in the edit.

In March 2021, when Tip Harris had just been accused of sexual assault, Marvel Studios announced that the actor was still not slated to star in a third Ant-Man. And it is, indeed, except for David Dastmalchian, even if the latter does not reprise his role as Kurt: he voices Webb, a gelatinous inhabitant of the quantum world with an almost obsessive interest in holes.

Even if the Marvel Cinematic Universe is slowly exploring the concept of the multiverse, Webb is still not a sickle version of Kurt, but a completely different character. Who doesn’t have the same accent. Davit Dastmalchiani’s presence is more of a fun wink than a script twist. But if you’ve been wondering who voiced this newbie in all of Quantummania, and you don’t know his actor’s name, now you know why.
