‘Motel Valkirias’: discover the new western in Galician starring women that will arrive on HBO Max

Next March 1 arrives ‘Valkyries’ Motel to HBO Max Spain. The series consists of 8 50-minute episodes that will be available on the platform from the first day of its launch. HBO Max users will be able to see the series both in its original version (Galician and Portuguese) and dubbed into Spanish.

In the plot of this new series three women, With great personal and economic problems, they cross paths by chance when they meet Eligio, a client who is transporting valuable merchandise.. This is how Lucía, a mother running away from her ex-husband, Eva, a declining actress, and Carolina, the bankrupt motel owner, come together in a plan that consists of finding Eligio’s mysterious loot. What these three women don’t know is that their lives are in danger because the merchandise belongs to a dangerous gang dedicated to money laundering: the Mendozas. A clan that will not hesitate to go after them to recover what is theirs, whatever the cost.

The story is set in a singular space: a border motel, a place stuck in time, forgotten by any kind of progress. A limbo where the rules are suspended and where anything can happen. It is in this framework that the plot of the series is situated, in which, in the form of a dramedy, issues such as social pressure on women or the economic precariousness to which they are exposed are addressed.

‘Motel Valkirias’ is a border western starring three women who find themselves in an extreme situation. According to its creator, Ghaleb Jaber Martínez, “We have not made a series for the algorithm, but for the people. At CTV, we believe in quality more than success. That our series can be next to titles like the Sopranos’ or ‘The Wire’ is an honor. ‘Motel Valkirias’ talks about life and how, sometimes, we need to escape from it. It is a border drama, located between Galicia and Portugal, which has a western touch. We bet on a plot that is simmering, where three women fight to regain control of their lives while forging a great friendship.”

The series stars Marina Mota (‘Forever’, ‘Want or destiny’), Maria Mera (‘Infesto’, ‘O sabor das margaridas’)Maria Joao Bastos (‘A rainha ea bastarda’, ‘Love’, love) and the winner of a Goya, Chechu Salgado (‘The laws of the border’, ‘Fariña’).

The direction of the episodes of the new series is carried out by Álex Sampayo and Jorge Queirogaand has a team of scriptwriters with extensive experience that is made up of Ghaleb Jaber Martínez, Raquel Arias, Alba Araújo, Patrícia Müller, Manuel Gancedo, Manuel Darriba.

‘Valkyries Motel’ is a co-production between CTV and SPi, Spain and Portugal, with the participation of TVG, RTP, the support of La Agadic, Xunta de Galicia, PIC Portugal, Turismo de Portugal and the collaboration of the Ourense Deputation, Montalegre Municipal Chamber.
