After Connasse, the humorous lozenge named after the feature film that introduced Camille Cotin to the general public, director Noemi Saglio is still interested in the non-conformist characters of the students’ parents.
It follows the adventures of Vincent, a real teenager who pretends to be the father of Bart, whose babysitter he is. Then he fails to reveal the deception, especially since he likes to be included in the society of his parents, and above all because he falls in love with Nora, Bart’s young mistress.
In addition to the desire to make a film about the school environment, Parents d’études examines, as a comedy Telle mère, tel fille (2017), the issue of family, here with modern themes such as single parenthood, assisted reproduction or the same-sex couple.
In addition, the film seduces primarily with a romantic comedy plot – a genre that the director has already tried for the very first time (2014) and more recently with the Netflix series Plan Coeur.
This novel, very much rooted in reality and thus representative of ordinary life, is based on its two charming leads with undeniable chemistry. On the one hand, a somewhat rock school teacher, portrayed by singer Camellia Giordona. On the other hand, the humorist Vincent Dedien, with a strong capital of sympathy, in the skin of a thirty-year-old teenager who is a little lost, but terribly lovable.
