Microsoft chairman Brad Smith said on Tuesday that the US software giant had agreed to a 10-year deal to bring Activision’s games to Nvidia Corp’s gaming platform, if the Xbox maker can complete it.
Smith told a news conference that he is now more optimistic about completing the Activision acquisition after the licensing deal with Nvidia, as well as a similar deal with Nintendo.
Regulators and competitors like Sony have taken a hard line against the proposed partnership between Microsoft and Activision.
It also said Nvidia supports the Xbox maker’s bid to buy Activision, a transaction that is under scrutiny by antitrust regulators in the US and Europe. European officials issued a warning to Microsoft over the deal earlier this month, while the US Federal Trade Commission asked a judge to block the deal.
Nvidia said in a press release that it has entered into a 10-year agreement with Microsoft to immediately begin work on integrating Xbox games into its GeForce Now streaming service, which has 25 million users in more than 100 countries.
