to remember

Two French comedies hit the box office again this week, ahead of Ant-Man 3 . Alibi.com 2 recorded an additional million launches and has already crossed the 2 million launch mark. At this rate, Philippe Lachaux’s new film should match and probably surpass the group’s biggest hit to date, Alibi.com 1, which was released in February 2017 and totaled 3,603,775.

In Tier 2, Asterix and Obelix: Middle Kingdom attracted 750,000 more viewers and is now in its 3rd week with 3.6 million admissions.

Ant-Man 3 takes third place, followed by Asterix with 735,356. It’s the franchise’s best start in France (Ant Man and the Wasp had 713,011 viewers in its first week in France, and Ant-Man, 662,867 admissions).

The only news in the top 10: Happy Man, with Fabris Luchin and Catherine Frot, is at No. 4. The Tristan Segella-directed comedy recorded 233,008 admissions, ahead of Avatar 2, which continues to attract many viewers this school holiday period. That’s 228,897 additional viewers who saw the film during its 10th week of release.

James Cameron is at it again, re-releasing Titanic for its 25th anniversary. In its second week, the film’s re-release total was 388,909.

In addition to Babylon, the rest of the ranking is occupied by family films: animated features Sacred Mummies, Pattie and the Wrath of Poseidon and Le Chat Porté 2.
