“Everything, everywhere at the same time” wins the Producers Guild Awards

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) honored the sci-fi comedy ‘Everything in Every Place at the Same Time’ at its annual awards, the PGA Awards, held Saturday night (February 25) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles .

The film from independent production company A24 outsold films that have already been nominated for other awards, such as ‘The Fabelmans’, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’ and ‘Elvis’. The result, which serves as a good barometer for the Oscars, makes “Everything, everywhere at the same time” favoritism for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences trophy.

As with the Oscars, the main category, called the Darryl F. Zanuck Award, featured no films directed by women, as the syndicate ignored such lauded productions as ‘Aftersun’, ‘She Said’, ‘The Woman-King’ and ‘Among the women”.

The award for Best Animation went to “Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro”, an Oscar favorite in its category.

The series contest was won by ‘The White Lotus’, ‘The Bear’ and ‘The Dropout’ for best drama, comedy and mini-series respectively.

The event also included tributes to comedian Mindy Kaling, who received the Norman Lear Award for Television, and Tom Cruise, who was presented with the David O. Selznick Trophy for Lifetime Achievement in Motion Picture.
