Spoilers for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ ahead
The MCU has begun Phase Five with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’But what many don’t know is that the third installment starring Scott Lang has a scene that is actually from ‘Loki 2’.
In ‘Quantumania’ we meet Kang the Conqueror, Marvel’s new great villain (played by Jonathan Majors) on the big screen for the first time before he is the main antagonist in ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’. And if you thought that the UCM would go beyond the credit scenes in this last phase, you are wrong. ‘Ant-Man 3’ has two post-credit scenesan intermediate one and another with which the film ends, and in both Kang appears.
In the first credits scene some variants of Kang are seen assembled to discuss the events of the last movie and point out that the heroes of our universe are taking too much interest in the multiverse.
the second scene of the credits shows a variant named Victor Timely giving a lecture on the nature of time. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) they watch, and the former admits his concern at what they are witnessing.
The director of ‘Quantumania’, Peyton Reed has revealed that the film’s second credits scene was shot during the production of Loki Season 2.the series in which Kang (or at least a variant of him) made his first appearance.
The scene it wasn’t made exclusively for inclusion in the latest Ant-Man movie, either. He will also appear in the next batch of ‘Loki’ episodes..
Speaking to ‘IndieWire’ about the scene, Reed explained, “It’s a scene from the second season of Loki, and Victor Timely is another variant from the comics.”
“I love the look of Jonathan, his vintage voice and his Frederick Douglass hair.”
“In that scene there was a kind of ‘Okay, there are all these variants and here is perhaps the next one that you can find‘. We liked that idea.”
The “maybe” is interesting here. The second season of Loki will premiere in mid-2023 on Disney+, while ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ will premiere in May and ‘Secret Invasion’ has no date yet, but we can see it a little earlier than the second season of ‘Loky’. Could another variant of Kang appear in one of those projects? Maybe.
