Flamengo’s main squad continues with training aimed at deciding the Recopa Sul-Americana. So much so that the players stayed in Rio de Janeiro to work while the reserves won the classic against Botafogo.
Coach Vitor Pereira had good news regarding this Tuesday’s duel against Independiente Del Valle-EQU, at the Maracanã. That’s because striker Pedro and defensive midfielder Gerson have been training with the group. With that, the two players have a chance to strengthen the team.
Pedro felt pain in the adductor of his left thigh and left the match against Independiente del Valle 18′ into the second half, in the first leg of the Recopa Sul-Americana. Gerson was injured in the match against Volta Redonda.
Also new was defender Léo Pereira, who is still in transition but is not expected to start on Tuesday. The athlete hasn’t played since the semi-final of the Club World Cup, when he suffered a physical problem in his thigh.
Flamengo aim for the Recopa title to lighten the mood in the club. Disappointments in defeats in the Supercopa do Brasil and in the semi-final of the Club World Cup have increased the pressure on Vitor Pereira’s job.
Ready for the decision ✅ 🔴⚫
