Like Thanos, he was inevitable, ever since the MCU series Hawk eye began with its precision hero attending a Broadway performance of “Rogers: The Musical” (with a hilariously campy Avengers-focused musical number, “Save The City,” written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman), it was clear that fans would be clamoring for a truly theatrical portrayal of Captain America’s singing and dancing extravagance. And now it’s happening, as long as you can get to California.
Disney has confirmed that it will bring live-action shows this summer Roger: the musical on stage at the California Adventure Park Hyperion at the original Disneyland Resort (it’s the one in Anaheim). It’s described as a “limited time engagement” and will be a one-act show, meaning it will contain additional musical numbers in addition to “Save The City,” if it doesn’t achieve musical status, a full three hours on Broadway.
There are no details yet for the show: how long it will run, when exactly it will open, how many months it will run, or if Shaiman and Wittman have been recruited to write the additional issues (likely). (Can we also get a version of Alan Menken’s “Star Spangled Man” somewhere, please?) Will Ant-Man make more anachronistic appearances? Will they make a version of it? Civil war struggle? And will Thanos have a song? All we know for now is that we could watch it all day.
