Brazilian drag queen suffers attacks on Swedish reality show


Fontana is part of the cast of the first edition of the Swedish version of the “Drag Race” competition.




The Brazilian drag queen fountain they used their social networks to report xenophobic attacks suffered in Sweden participating in the local version of the reality show “Drag Race”.

“Sweden has deep xenophobic roots, in the elections the Nazi party has grown absurdly. Being an immigrant latina lgbtq drag queen puts me in layers of prejudice. A feeling of loneliness of not belonging anywhere, as I have suffered a lot in Brazil. Thanks for everything,” the drag posted on his Twitter profile.

The party Fontana refers to is the SD (Sverigedemokraterna), considered the second political force in the country after the 2022 elections. The SD was born in 1988 as an ultra-nationalist party and, for two decades, it tried to elect candidates for congress unsuccessful due to its pro-Nazi founders.

Acting as a professional in singing, dancing, photography and drag, Fontana is a non-binary person, born in São Leopoldo, Rio Grande do Sul. She currently she lives in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.

This is the first Swedish edition of “Drag Race”, a franchise started in the United States and led by RuPaul that has already had versions in Italy, United Kingdom, Holland, Thailand, Spain, among others.
