The Mandalore Season 3: All the Easter Eggs and Hidden Details You Shouldn’t Miss in Episode 1

The Mandalore Season 3: All the Easter Eggs and Hidden Details You Shouldn’t Miss in Episode 1

After more than a year of waiting, fans of the Star Wars universe finally have the opportunity to discover the first episode of the third season of The Mandalorian, available on the Disney+ platform.

In this new season, Dean Jarrin and Grogu embark on an expedition project to the planet Mandalore to delve into the deep waters as required by the Mandalorian faith for its members guilty of removing their helmets.

This is already a habit: a lot of winks and Easter eggs in the Star Wars saga – but also for other performances – dropped in this episode. Here are all the hidden details you absolutely shouldn’t miss!

“Alright, you son!”

It’s hard not to see in this manly handshake between Mandalorian and High Magistrate Griff Karga the famous testosterone sequence from Predator between Holland (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Major Dillon, also played by Carl Weathers.

Cleaning, Kezako?

The purge discussed in this episode has already been mentioned in previous seasons of The Mandalorian. The term refers to the conflict that pitted Palpatine’s Galactic Empire against the Mandalorians in the years following the end of the Clone Wars.

With very brief exceptions, this war has never been shown on screen, either in the live-action series or in the Star Wars animated productions.

Will the new Jedi arrive?

Grogu sees a group of Purgil near the ship. These beings with the ability to travel through hyperspace were last seen in the animated series Star Wars Rebels, and most notably in the final episode, in which Jedi Ezra Bridger sacrifices himself to take the dreaded Grand Admiral’s fleet with him.

Rumors that these two iconic characters from the Star Wars Expanded Universe will be making their big debut in the live-action Mandalorian movie are enough to make you believe, especially since it’s already been confirmed that Bridger will appear in the flesh in Ahsoka Tano. series, in the guise of Eman Esfand.

We know what became of Cara Dune

It has already been announced that Kara Dune will not be returning to The Mandalorian due to the controversial firing of her translator Gina Carano. But the fate of the character was uncertain, and several options were possible: kill the character, change the interpreter or remove Dune from the plot.

In the end, the third option was chosen, as this episode tells us that the latter joined the special forces. Therefore, Dean Jarrin will have to find a new marshal to support him in his next adventure.

Gideon

If he doesn’t appear in this new episode, Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) is still mentioned, and Gref informs the good Mandalorian that the villains of the previous two seasons will be tried by the New Republic courts.

Still, it would be surprising if the latter is never mentioned again in the series’ next seasons…

SALACIOUS & CIE

No one could forget the disgusting Salacio B. Crump, the monstrous creature that nests in Jabba the Hutt’s scrolls in Return of the Jedi and is defeated by R2-D2.

But while we may have thought that Salacious was the only representative of his despicable race, this new episode of The Mandalorian teaches us that there are many likenesses of the latter on the planet Nevarro.

Kalevala

The planet Kalevala belongs to the Mandalorian system. The castle where Bo-Katan sits is believed to have belonged to an aristocratic New Mandalorian lineage, notably led by Duchess Satine Crisis, known to fans for maintaining a close relationship with Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi (see The Clone Wars animated series later. Details).

Grogu appears to be enjoying the company of the Anzelans being consulted by Dean Jarrin to repair the IG-11 assassin droid. These little creatures first appeared in the saga in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (Episode IX).
