The largest share (62.55%) is of those who have an account of up to R $ 10, for a total of 29.2 million people. Accounts with amounts from R$ 10 to R$ 100 follow, with 26.05%, and accounts with amounts from R$ 100 to R$ 1,000, for a total of 4.6 million customers or 10.03%.
It is worth mentioning that the numbers refer to the total number of accounts, so a person may have more than one account opened with forgotten money. The data released by the Central Bank refer to January 2023.
How to query forgotten values?
Interested parties can inquire via the Credit Portal, where they can also ask questions about how to claim back amounts for natural and legal persons, including the deceased. According to data from the Receiving Values System, there is about R$6 billion forgotten registered in 38 million CPF and 2 million CNPJ.
When will withdrawals be released?
Withdrawals for users start on March 7th, from 10:00am. Among the changes announced by the BC are:
- The inclusion of all types of amounts foreseen by the standard, expanding the possibility and the amount to be received;
- Sharing and printing of SVR screenshots and request protocols, including WhatsApp;
- Virtual waiting room to keep the SVR open indefinitely, with access without programming;
- Consultation of the values of the deceased, with access to the heir, executor, executor or legal representative, communicating the contact details of the body responsible for the value and the range of value;
- More transparency for those who have a joint account: If one of the holders requests the amount via SVR, the other, by logging into the system, will be able to see the information of the request, such as amount, date and CPF of the person who requested it.
Tips to avoid falling for scams
According to the Central Bank’s guidelines, customers should ignore WhatsApp messages with links to redeem forgotten amounts. According to the institution, the links are used to steal passwords and can install viruses and spy programs on the mobile phone.
The municipality reiterates that the official information is disclosed exclusively on the Central Bank’s website and on the institution’s official social networks, and that it is not necessary to make any type of payment to access the values. All Values to Receive services are free.
