‘Wednesday’, from Netflix, has not only revolutionized TikTok, but has completely changed the life of Jenna Ortega. In more ways than you think.
The Netflix series catalog has been animated, although the tones have darkened. Let them tell Jenna Ortega, who incorporated the most iconic element of ‘Wednesday’ into her routine.
“When I was working on ‘Wednesday’, suddenly I only wore black“, explained in an interview in New York Magazine. “I didn’t know why. For some reason, my closet lost all its color“.
This “spin-off” about one of the best-known characters created by Charles Addams a “coming-of-age” about young Wednesday, a student at Nevermore Academy, where she tries to master her psychic ability, thwart a murder spree, and solve the supernatural mystery involving her parents 25 years ago, all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships and, of course, he dresses in black.
“I like purple clothes“adds Ortega. “Maybe it’s because, after ‘Wednesday’, I don’t wear a lot of color. Now I feel like I tend to stick to darker, earthier shades, so I like them because they look great on everyone, but they also push me to try something new.”
Of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent, Jenna Marie Ortega (Coachella, California, 2002) achieved her first testimonial roles on the small screen in series such as ‘CSI: New York’, but was first seen on the big screen as the vice president’s daughter in ‘Iron Man 3’ (S. Black, 2013).
However, it didn’t take long for him to approach the darker tones after making his debut in horror movies at the age of 11 in ‘Insidious: Chapter 2’ (J. Wan, 2013). But the colors didn’t go away and, by professionalizing her love of acting with the Disney Channel hit ‘Between Brothers’ and ‘Jane the Virgin’in which she played the young version of Gina Rodriguez, gothic clothing disappeared from her life.
Luckily for those obsessed with lists of the best horror movies in cinema history, Jenna wanted to give us a good bad time. The disturbing ‘You’ was another approach to the genre in which she ended up immersed with ‘The Babysitter: Killer Queen’ (McG, 2020), ‘Immune’ (A. Mason, 2020) and, finally, ‘X’ (2022), Ti West’s jewel in which only she seemed capable of sharing a plane with Mia Goth without being overshadowed.
Recruited by Paramount for the new ‘Scream’ (M. Bettinelli-Olpin, T. Gillett, 2022), Ortega’s closet was losing color until he reached his filmography ‘Wednesday’ and, fortunately for those responsible for the rebirth of the saga by Wes Craven about the Woodsboro murderers, the actress will return to the big screen in ‘Scream VI’ (2023), Ghostface’s unexpected trip to New York.
