Netflix: Ads coming to the platform earlier than expected?

Although many streaming platforms obey AVoD – with ad-supported video on demand – Netflix still resists. But not for too long. American newspaper Ნ New York Times Revealed That the giant wants to include advertising on its service by the end of the year, in the last three months of 2022.

Until now, this option was not on the agenda for the world’s first streaming platform, but a sharp drop in their subscribers has forced leaders to change strategy as soon as possible. Recently, Netflix lost more than 200,000 subscribers. A large number, which is partly explained by the suspension of the platform in Russia.

After a significant leap during the Covid-19 pandemic, Netflix seems to be reaching the glass ceiling. In the press release, leaders also justify this drop by the excessive number of passwords shared between accounts.

In March last year, the platform’s chief financial officer, Spender Neumann, explained that creating the ads was not part of their plans. “We are focused on maximizing long-term revenue, big profits and want to do that by providing the best experience for our members.. ”

However, changing such a model takes time. It remains to be seen whether Netflix will have time to launch this new policy by the end of the year. The discounted price offer on Disney + will indeed go into effect in late 2022 in the United States and by 2023 in the rest of the world.
