“This photo was taken after the filming of La Revolte – Part 2. I just said goodbye to everyone on the set. We were shooting at a beautiful property in the French countryside and I asked the driver to let me into this field so I could cry and capture the moment.
This time in Paris was very difficult for me because I had just gone through a difficult breakup and had been sexually assaulted by someone I worked with. But I was filled with gratitude for this project, the people I became close to, and the incredible role I was able to play.
It’s a mix of emotions that I’m only just beginning to learn to sort out. I wish it wasn’t related to such a traumatic event for me, but that’s the true wildness of life I guess. How to make chaos coexist with beauty.

I worked very hard to heal and learn, through restorative justice, to make peace with the person who raped me and to make peace with myself.
It’s been hard to talk about The Hunger Games and Johanna without the violence of that moment, but I’m ready to overcome it and rediscover the joy and satisfaction I felt while filming.
Much love to you survivors. The process is slow and non-linear. I want to say that I am here for anyone who needs to talk. Feel free to message me if you need a safe place to listen.”
After filming the franchise, Jena Malone began a long healing process. Today, the 38-year-old actress is encouraging victims of sexual assault to send private messages to express themselves confidently and be heard.
