Despite being light-hearted and a Globoplay hit, As Five season two disappoints in not delving into the characters. The show deserved more episodes.
After eight episodes, the second season of at five ended on Wednesday (1), leaving the audience wanting to know more and feeling that the plot developed quickly and hastily, leaving no room for the growth of the protagonists.
With less time than it deserved, the second part of the series created by Cao Hamburguer fails to give enough space to better explore each of the girls.
Lica, for example, continues to be spoiled, stubborn and only does what she wants. Although the production tries to give her the title of journalist without a degree, who pursues the most incredible reports, all of this sounds false and we see that the young woman from São Paulo continues to do what suits her and puts her will before feelings of the others.
After ending his turbulent relationship with Samantha (Giovanna Grigio), he embarks on another romance, this time with Maura (Tamirys Ohanna), Ellen’s (Heslaine Vieira) colleague. Here it is worth mentioning that the character has not had an emotional evolution and has simply moved from one relationship to another impulsively.
Up to this point the problems annoy, but do not spoil the series, since the character of Lica is famous for being impulsive. Most regrettable, however, is that there seems to be a reluctance to develop it even a little.

The situation gets even worse when we analyze Ellen, the most responsible of the group. Working at a tech company, she clashes with her boss, who wants to release racist software that doesn’t recognize black and/or Latino faces.
The argument here is good and the topic raised is extremely important, but it is underexplored and a bit loose in the middle of the plot. When Ellen becomes lovingly close to Maura, there’s also a sense that (re)discovery of her sexual orientation will be better put to use, but that’s another point she leaves to be desired.

Keyla (Gabriela Medvedovski), in turn, gains more prominence and is primarily responsible for uniting the group. She is the one who calms Benê during an anxiety attack and who has the kindest words for her friends. But her own life takes a back seat as she struggles to get her singing career off the ground, only to be sabotaged by Tina (Ana Hikari).
Ben is a pleasant surprise
Speaking of Benê, the pianist is a pleasant surprise in the series, and it is the “five” that is best developed in the second season of at five.
Gradually she learns to relate to Nem (Thalles Cabral), understands his feelings and frees herself. The highlight is the final scenes, when she is faced with the fact that her piano has been infested with termites.

In a beautiful interpretation, Daphne Bozaski manages to show all the pain of the character in losing the musical instrument that was so important to her, as a member of the family. Also, the actress makes no mistakes in portraying the mannerisms of a person who falls on the autistic spectrum.
And speaking of acting, it’s worth remembering that the five leads and supporting actors do not disappoint in front of the screen. The highlight, however, is for Daphne and Thalles Cabral.
The Five: true friends?
Another point that needs to be questioned is whether the girls are still really friends. Despite being presented as a united group, in the new chapters of at five they seem more focused on their individual problems, leaving friendship aside.

Tina, for example, after doing a detox from social media and alcohol, returns to compulsive drunkenness, also using drugs such as cocaine. And although all the other girls see her losing her hand to alcohol, they don’t seem to care.
Lica is also so focused on winning Maura that she ignores the professional problems Ellen is going through, and Tina would rather feed her ego than help Keyla through her first gig.

The final scene with the five together helping Bene to set fire to the piano is truly moving and recovers the spirit of companionship so present in at fivebut everything else leaves audiences wondering if next season they will go together or if each will choose different paths.
Is As Five season 2 worth watching?
light and fun, at five established himself as a great spin off Brazilian — from which the series derives Workout – feel the difference – and it’s a good bet by Globoplay. Although the second season has a rushed plot and leaves many open points, it is pleasant to see the five friends again, and therefore the episodes are worth playing.

In a future season, hopefully the storyline of each girl and the group, in general, will be worked out better and they will get the result they deserve, even if more chapters are needed for this.
If you want to give production a chance, now you can do the marathon at five to the Global game.
