Prosecco production grows by 1.8% in 2022

The United States leads the ranking of importers

Production of Prosecco, Italy’s most famous sparkling wine, increased by 1.8% in 2022, according to the consortium responsible for this controlled designation of origin (DOC) drink.

In all of last year 638.5 million bottles were sold, with the share referring to exports reaching a record value of 81.2%. The volume in Italy corresponds to the remaining 18.8%.

With a growth of 5.8%, the United States overtook the United Kingdom in the ranking of the largest importers of Prosecco in terms of volume, with 134 million bottles, against 130 million for the British.

Followed by Italy (120 million) and Germany (46 million). .
