Jenna Ortega criticizes ‘Wednesday’ script

Since “Wednesday” was released, Jenna Ortega’s fame has grown exponentially. She is a guest speaker at all kinds of events and now appears on the “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard” podcast.

There he confessed that, despite having played various dark roles, none had demanded as much from him as Merlina Addams.

“I don’t think I’ve had to put my foot in a set like I should have on Wednesday because it’s so easy to get into the category [de adolescentes]especially with this kind of program.”

In addition, he criticized the original script of the Netflix series, believing that there was a lot of dialogue that did not fit the vibe of his character.

“Everything he does, everything he had to play made no sense to his character. Being in a love triangle made no sense. There was a line about this dress she has to wear to a school dance and she goes, “OMG, I love it! I can’t believe I said that. I literally hate myself.’ And I had to say, ‘No, there’s no way.'”

Jenna Ortega Changed ‘Wednesday’ Script

Because of these disagreements with the “Wednesday” script, Jenna Ortega dared to change Merlina Addams’ original dialogue for the good of the character:

“There were moments on that set where I even became unprofessional, in a sense that I just started changing lines. The script guy thought I’d go with something and then I’d have to sit down with the writers and they’d be like, “Wait, what happened to the scene?” And he would have to go through and explain why he couldn’t do certain things. I became very, very protective of her,” she explained.

This is not the first time that the “Wednesday” star has expressed the sacrifices and challenges she faced to bring Merlina Addams to life.

For example, that she was the one who created and filled with references to the choreography that Merlina dances and also confessed that she should not blink during her scenes.

Through her commitment and outstanding performance in the Netflix series, the young Latina actress has shown that she has a promising future in the entertainment industry.

“Scream VI” will premiere on June 10, and other projects on the horizon include “Winter Spring Summer of Fall,” “Finestkind Miller’s Girl,” and the second season of “Wednesday.”
