‘The Mandalorian’: where is Grogu in the Star Wars sequels? we already have the answer

It’s impossible not to love Grogu or Baby Yoda (science has already proven it) and that’s why their adventures together with Mando/Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) are a lot of fun for those who want to know more about the character.

When the second season of “The Mandalorian” ended, it was thought that Grogu’s future would be very dark because he was going to die at the hands of Ben Solo (Adam Driver) at Luke Skywalker’s (Mark Hamill) Jedi academy.

However, his return with Mando in “The Book of Boba Fett” and “The Mandalorian” in Season 3 makes his future uncertain.

Where is Grogu/Baby Yoda in the final Star Wars trilogy?

Unlike characters like Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) who has his turn but is already known exactly when he dies in the story, with Grogu there is no indication of where he is by the time the sequel trilogy takes place.

  • Diego Luna also starred in the movie “Nicotine”, which you can watch for free on ViX.

But to reassure fans of little Grogu (who even has his own Tamagotchi), series creator and Lucasfilm producer Dave Filoni has revealed where Mando’s adopted son might be in the future.

The director and George Lucas alum spoke to The Hollywood Reporter on March 1, 2023 and answered questions about Grogu’s whereabouts during the final story in the trilogy with Rey (Daisy Ridley), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and the company.

Filoni commented that while it seems that in Star Wars a small group of characters are always the protagonists of the saga, in reality the galaxy is vast and Grogu may not necessarily meet Rey or Kylo Ren.

“This is a question for many characters, not just Grogu. Where are they during these events (from the sequel)? If anything, having done ‘The Clone Wars’ and weaving such a complex story between two films that were so close together, I’ve learned that there’s a lot of room in this galaxy for us to tell stories and we make the characters things.”

He also commented that the Star Wars story is constantly evolving, and even things that George Lucas captured in the original trilogy have been changed or interpreted differently to make room for new plots.

“As a kid, when Yoda said to Luke, ‘When I’m gone, you’ll be the last Jedi,’ I took it literally. Well, now we know that’s far from true. There are many different people who are sensitive to the force, and maybe Luke is the last Jedi of what Yoda would consider a Jedi. So we’ll just have to wait and see how the story unfolds and what makes sense.”

According to Filoni, because Din Djarin and Grogu’s adventures put them on a path closer to the history of the Mandalorians than the Jedi, they may never meet the protagonists of the sequels.

“In my experience, there is definitely a way to combine everything and make it exciting. It might not even need to cross over with what we saw (in the sequel trilogy) if our story goes somewhere else.”

As “The Mandalorian” continues with new chapters and seasons, Grogu’s whereabouts during “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (set about 30 years later) and the subsequent films remain a mystery.
