Jenni Rivera’s biopic, tentatively titled “Jenni,” has begun filming, announced by Mucho Mas Media, De Line Pictures and ViX, the world’s leading Spanish-language streaming service. The actress Annie González will star of the authorized work on the life and career of ‘La Diva de la Banda’.
Initial production of ViX began filming in Bogota, Colombia and will wrap in Los Angeles, California, the press release announced.
“My brothers and I are very excited about this biopic. We know that our mother’s story will affect future generations. It has been a difficult undertaking, but we are happy to see one of our mother’s dreams come true,” said Jacqie Rivera, daughter of Jenni Rivera and CEO of Jenni Rivera Enterprises. “Although we haven’t yet seen someone play our mother, we think Annie will do a great job,” he added.
“Jenni” is scheduled to premiere this 2023 and can be enjoyed through ViX and select theaters in the United States and Mexico.

The cast of “Jenny”
The play has a lead cast Annie Gonzalez (‘Flamin’ Hot’, ‘Gentefied’), who will play Jenni Rivera, the late “Diva de la Banda.”
“Jenni’s messages in music about feminism, civil rights and non-conformity were ahead of their time and created the space for all of us to feel empowered. With the support of the Rivera family, I look forward to counting her beautiful story and powerful legacy of what Jenny means to me, what it will mean to women and Latinas everywhere,” she said of the project.
Manuel Uriza (“Narcos: Mexico,” “Rambo: Last Blood”) will play Pedro Rivera, the father of the regional Mexican singer and music entrepreneur. Cynthia Carmona (“Rush Hour,” “Greenhouse Academy”) will play Chiquis Rivera. jero medina (‘Narcos: Mexico’, ‘Unknown Enemy’) and Miguel Angel Garcia (‘The Long Game’) will play Trino Marín, Jenni’s first husband and the father of her three oldest children, the oldest and youngest, respectively.
Gabriela Reynoso (Si Nos Dejan, Corazón Guerrero) will play Jenni’s mother, Rosa Saavedra, while JR Villarreal (“Ultra Violet,” “BlackScorpion”) will play Juan “Cinco” López, Jenni’s late second husband, and Tatiana Juarez will be Jenni Rivera as a young woman.
Gigi Saúl Guerrero will be the director of the film, the script is by Shane McKenzie. Javier Chapa and Phillip Braun of Mucho Más Media will produce alongside Donald De Line of De Line Pictures.
Jenni Rivera Enterprises is executive produced the film alongside Annie González, Simon Wise, Bruce Barshop, Vincent Cordero and Kristopher Wynne.
What will ‘Jenni’ be?
The authorized biography will focus on Jenni Rivera, the most famous woman in local Mexican music. It will be presented from his beginnings in his hometown of Log Beach, California, to his fame in the last days of his life.
The film will also depict the hardships she faced in her personal life and “how she persevered and found her inner strength. This story of resilience and courage shows the foundation of Jenni Rivera’s success and impressive legacy,” the statement explained.
