The bronze sculpture is located in front of the Romeo Menti stadium
The city of Vicenza unveiled this Thursday (9) a statue in honor of former striker Paolo Rossi, hero of Italy’s third world championship in 1982 and who died of lung cancer in December 2020.
The life-size bronze sculpture was installed in front of the Romeo Menti Stadium, home of Vicenza, the club where “Pablito” played from 1976 to 1979. In the same place is Largo Paolo Rossi, a pedestrian square dedicated to the former star.
The opening ceremony was attended by the mayor of Vicenza, Francesco Rucco, the president of the city club, Stefano Rosso, Rossi’s widow, Federica Cappelletti, and his son Alessandro, as well as the sculptor Domenico Sepe.
The statue depicts “Pablito” wearing the white Vicenza shirt and the number 9, used by the former striker when he played for the club. .
